Dalziel High School Concert Band’s Achievement at the Scottish Concert Band Festival
The motion
That the Parliament congratulates the concert band from Dalziel High School in Motherwell on winning a silver medal at the Scottish Concert Band Festival finals at Perth Concert Hall; recognises the dedication of the tutors, Jim Bone, Ross Carrol, Anne-Marie Smillie, Ross McQueen, Esther Woods and Scott Crawford; notes that Dalziel High was one of only seven schools invited to participate; celebrates this achievement as a testament to the students’ talent and teamwork; welcomes the Scottish Government’s support for music education through the Youth Music Initiative, which, it understands, ensures that every child in Scotland receives a year of free music tuition by the time they leave primary school, and wishes all the pupils, staff and tutors continued success in their musical pursuits.
