Recognition of Community Action to Address Gambling Harms in Govanhill and Shettleston

The motion

That the Parliament commends the significant efforts of community organisations in Govanhill and Shettleston for their work in tackling gambling harms and raising awareness of gambling-related issues; recognises the remarkable work of Greater Govanhill CIC, whose magazine and public events have uncovered the reality of gambling harms in the community and powerfully highlighted the impact of gambling addiction through recent articles and storytelling; congratulates Greater Govanhill magazine on shining a light on these challenges and informing public understanding; acknowledges the work of Fuse Youth Café in Shettleston in supporting young people and challenging the role of the gambling industry through education and advocacy; notes the importance of lived experience and grassroots leadership in driving lasting change, and supports all community-led initiatives that empower individuals, address inequality and promote wellbeing in the face of gambling-related harm.
