Glaswegian Raises Over £50,000 for Myanmar Earthquake Relief
The motion
That the Parliament commends Paul Strachan, founder of Pandaw River Cruises and a Glasgow-based entrepreneur, for his exceptional efforts in raising over £50,000 in just eight days to support those affected by the recent 7.7-magnitude earthquake in central Myanmar; recognises that the earthquake caused widespread devastation, displacing thousands and destroying homes and livelihoods; acknowledges Paul’s long-standing connection to Myanmar, having revived the historic Irrawaddy Flotilla Company in the 1990s and built deep relationships with local communities through his work, and welcomes the commitment that 100% of the funds raised through his GoFundMe campaign will go to Medical Action Myanmar to deliver emergency shelter, medical aid and reconstruction support.
