Recognition of Glasgow Schools for Emotional Wellbeing Initiatives

The motion

That the Parliament congratulates the recent achievement of four Glasgow schools, Riverbank Primary School, Whiteinch Primary School, Wellshot Primary School and Govan Gaelic School, in receiving global recognition as SEL Worldwide Model Schools for their dedication to children's emotional wellbeing; recognises the successful integration of the PATHS Programme for Schools (UK Version) into daily school life at these schools, a programme supported by Barnardo’s, aimed at helping children understand their feelings, develop self-regulation skills, boost self-esteem, increase emotional awareness and teach problem-solving skills; acknowledges the hard work and dedication of the staff and pupils from each of these schools, who have embraced the programme, demonstrating leadership in social and emotional learning and creating a nurturing school culture in which both staff and pupils feel valued, and congratulates the staff and pupils of Riverbank Primary School, Whiteinch Primary School, Wellshot Primary School and Govan Gaelic School on their outstanding commitment to fostering emotional wellbeing and social learning within their communities, and for leading the way in ensuring that emotional wellbeing is not only acknowledged but actively nurtured.
