Glasgow Student Design's Commemorate Tartan

The motion

That the Parliament congratulates Molly Horth, a talented student at Kelvin College in Glasgow, on her achievement in designing the official anniversary tartan to commemorate the 40th anniversary of Glasgow’s twinning link with Nuremberg; recognises the outstanding creativity and dedication demonstrated by Molly in her design, which beautifully blends modernity with tradition by incorporating elements inspired by Glasgow’s iconic People Make Glasgow brand, the vibrant green of the city’s parks and the historical red of Nuremberg’s old buildings, alongside grey and black representing both cities’ industrial heritage; acknowledges the impact of this anniversary tartan as a symbol of the long-standing cultural and educational ties between Glasgow and Nuremberg, and celebrates how Molly’s design serves as a meaningful representation of both cities' shared commitment to cooperation and friendship, and notes the importance of the collaborative project involving students from Kelvin College and B5 Modeschulen Nürnberg, highlighting the fruitful partnership that has existed for over 20 years and the role that it plays in nurturing creativity and international connections through design and education.
