City Building Apprentices Fundraise for Glasgow Women’s Aid

The motion

That the Parliament commends the initiative of a group of first-year electrical apprentices from City Building, including team leaders Lennon and Zachery, who have launched a fundraising campaign in support of Glasgow Women’s Aid; notes that the apprentices will participate in the Tough Mudder challenge on 9 June 2025 as a means of raising funds and awareness for the charity; understands that the apprentices, who joined the organisation in 2024 as part of City Building’s nationally recognised apprenticeship programme, sought to mark the completion of their first year with an effort that not only demonstrated teamwork and resilience, but also contributed to a cause of critical social importance; believes that Glasgow Women’s Aid has been at the forefront of supporting women, children and young people affected by domestic abuse in the city for nearly 50 years, offering vital services such as refuge accommodation, community-based support, advocacy and prevention work in schools and communities; considers that the charity plays an essential role in tackling gender-based violence and in empowering those affected to rebuild their lives in safety and dignity; understands that many of the apprentices involved in the campaign have personal connections to individuals who have benefitted from Glasgow Women’s Aid’s support, and wishes the entire team success in its fundraising efforts and in completing the Tough Mudder challenge.
