Love and Solidarity Hub Opens in Castlemilk

The motion

That the Parliament congratulates the founders and volunteers of the Love and Solidarity Hub in Castlemilk on the successful opening of their new community space in the Braes Shopping Centre; recognises the outstanding commitment of Bridget Crossan, Cath, Natali Milligan and Julie Tait in turning a long-held vision into a reality; acknowledges the origins of the hub in the “Souper-heroes” initiative, which supported families through soup packs and community events during the COVID-19 pandemic and the ongoing cost of living crisis; notes the wide range of inclusive activities on offer at the hub, including free meals, mental health support, skill-sharing workshops and social events designed to bring people together and reduce loneliness; believes that this warm and welcoming space plays a vital role in restoring dignity, confidence and a sense of purpose for many local residents, and recognises what it sees as the extraordinary dedication of all involved in delivering a model of grassroots solidarity and compassion that strengthens and uplifts the Castlemilk community.
