Celebrating the Success of the Elgin Writers' Group

The motion

That the Parliament congratulates Elgin Writers’ Group on winning a number of top awards at the recent Scottish Association of Writers’ Annual Awards, which were held in Cumbernauld; notes that Margaret Woodward, a retired English teacher, who writes as Meg Woodward, won the Silver Book Trophy for her review of a book of poetry by Lydia Harris; recognises her second place award for her book, The Soldier’s Button, which is set during the 1650s around Brodie, in the novel for children aged 7-12 category; further recognises club secretary Dawn Tripp’s success in winning the Largs Shield for her short sketch, Birthday Boy; commends club treasurer Lorna Fraser for achieving second place in the short story category, and club member Sue Fleming on coming third in novels for the 7-9 age group, and further commends everyone involved with the Elgin Writers' Group, which has always been known for the friendly and welcoming approach that it provides to writers of all levels.
