Gold School Sport Award for Newmains Primary School
The motion
That the Parliament congratulates Newmains Primary School, in the Motherwell and Wishaw constituency, on achieving the prestigious Gold School Sport Award from sportscotland; recognises that this award is a mark of excellence and acknowledges the school's outstanding commitment to placing sport at the heart of its planning, practice and ethos; understands that the award celebrates the school’s continued efforts to enhance opportunities and engagement in physical education, school sport and leadership among its pupils; notes that the award also reflects the school’s success in fostering life-long participation in sport and building strong sporting links with the local community; acknowledges that the Gold School Sport Award is part of a national initiative, funded by the National Lottery, to encourage schools to put young people at the centre of decision-making and to continually improve their sporting provision, and commends the staff, pupils and wider school community of Newmains Primary for their dedication to, achievement in and commitment to, promoting health and wellbeing through sport.
