Townhead Strollers Walking Football Club
The motion
That the Parliament celebrates the successful Townhead Strollers walking football group on its continual work over the last six years to promote exercise and support social connections in the village of Cumnock; recognises what it sees as the vital importance of tackling social isolation for older people in rural communities and how this positively improves mental health outcomes; commends the hard work of the organiser, Derek King, who has been successful in encouraging people across the region to join and support teams in the Walking Football Scotland Regional Leagues; highlights the benefits that exercise groups give through welcoming people at all levels of physical ability, and acknowledges the positive impact in communities from groups like the Townhead Strollers by improving the physical and mental wellbeing of the community, especially for those who have limited social interactions.
