Falkirk Football Club Wins the 2024-25 Scottish Championship

That the Parliament celebrates Falkirk Football Club’s extraordinary achievement in winning the 2024-25 Scottish Championship and securing promotion to the Scottish Premiership, marking a triumphant return to the top flight after a 15-year absence; acknowledges what it sees as the remarkable feat of back-to-back league titles and promotions, following an unbeaten League One campaign the previous season; commends the leadership of the manager, John McGlynn; believes that his strategic vision and management were instrumental in the club’s success, and notes that, in recognition of his accomplishments, he was named PFA Scotland SPFL Manager of the Year for a record third time; pays tribute to the players, coaching staff and board for their collective dedication and professionalism throughout the season, and notes the key contributions of individuals such as Scott Arfield, Ethan Ross and Calvin Miller in securing vital victories; recognises what it sees as the unwavering passion and loyalty of the Falkirk supporters, whose steadfast backing provided the team with vital encouragement throughout their journey; further recognises what it sees as the vital community role played by Falkirk Football Club and notes the significance of its artificial pitch, installed in 2023, which, it understands, was substantially funded by a £230,000 grant from the Levelling Up Fund provided by the former UK Conservative administration; expresses concern at the SPFL’s forthcoming blanket ban on artificial playing surfaces, which, it believes, risks undermining valuable local investment and weakening the connection between clubs and their communities; calls on the SPFL to reconsider this approach and instead assess the quality and performance of each pitch on its individual merit, and wishes Falkirk Football Club, its supporters and all associated with it continued success in the Scottish Premiership and beyond.
