Patricia Allison and Margaret Ellen Gunn - Service to the Scouts and Guides Movement across Wishaw
The motion
That the Parliament acknowledges the outstanding commitment and voluntary service of Patricia Allison and Margaret Ellen Gunn to the youth of Coltness, through their leadership of the Rainbows and Brownies at St Aidan's Parish; believes that, since the late 1960s, St Aidan's has had a strong tradition of providing activities for young people through the Scouts and Guides movement, which has long played a vital role in supporting the personal development, confidence and social skills of young people across Scotland; notes with regret that many of these groups have closed over the years due to a shortage of volunteers; celebrates the fact that, thanks to the tireless efforts of Patricia and Margaret, the Rainbows and Brownies continue to meet every Wednesday; commends Patricia Allison for her 40 years of service, travelling weekly from Dollar, Fife, to Coltness, and Margaret Ellen Gunn for her 36 years of dedicated volunteering, continuing to make the journey from Irvine each week, and further commends both women for their exceptional dedication, which, it believes, has had a lasting and positive impact on generations of young people in the community.
