The motion

That the Parliament welcomes the launch of the Umbrella Project in Aberdeen on 6 May 2025; notes that the project, which is being brought once again to Shiprow by Aberdeen Inspired, in conjunction with the ADHD Foundation, pays tribute to the one in five people who fall underneath the “umbrella” term of neurodiversity, which includes attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), autism, Tourette’s syndrome, dyslexia, dysgraphia and dyspraxia, raising what it sees as the importance of inclusivity in every walk of life; understands that, as well as the brollies on Shiprow, local schools and businesses are being invited to create their own mini-installations, to help show the support and recognition that neurodiverse people have in Aberdeen; notes that the launch event featured entertainment from Citymoves Dance Agency’s Step Forward inclusive performance group, as well as Umbrella A Capella and the Robert Gordon College Pipe Band; believes that projects like this are important in raising awareness of the crucial part that neurodiverse people play in everyone's lives, and wishes all those involved in the project all the best.
