Cycling in Dumfries and Galloway Moving in Right Direction
The motion
That the Parliament recognises what it sees as the transformative approach being taken to cycling in Dumfries and Galloway over the past 12 months, including major events being staged in Gatehouse, such as the Raiders Gravel and The Gralloch, while 500 competitors were attracted to the British Enduro Championships held at Ae Forest; acknowledges that the South of Scotland Cycling Partnership also saw the official launch of the Kirkpatrick C2C cycle route from Stranraer to Eyemouth, a distance of some 250 miles through some of the most picturesque scenery imaginable, while carrying out improvements to other local cycle routes; notes that the organisation is made up of a number of local and national bodies, including South of Scotland Destination Alliance, Dumfries and Galloway Council, Visit Scotland and South of Scotland Enterprise, and wishes the local cycling community continued success in the coming months as it bids to attract even more cyclists and their families to get on their bikes.
