The motion

That the Parliament celebrates the incorporation of the Forces Children’s Rights Charter by Forces Children Scotland after the Month of the Military Child in April 2025; commends the co-production of the Charter by children and young people as a testament to the vision and values of children and young people who refuse to be left out of the conversation; supports the need for decision-makers to consider the impact of forces life upon children and young people, to hear their opinions, and to show how decisions and policies affect them, as set out under Articles 12, 13 and 42 of the Charter; further supports and celebrates their identity as forces children, as set out under Articles 7 and 15; acknowledges what it sees as the special circumstances faced by forces children in education, and the need for their education and development to be disrupted as little as possible, as set out under Articles 28 and 29, and recognises what it sees as the compatibility and interconnectedness with the rights expressed in the Children’s Forces Charter with those enshrined in the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child.
