The motion

That the Parliament celebrates World Bee Day on 20 May 2025, which was created to acknowledge the important role of bees as pollinators; recognises what it sees as the critical roles that bees, and other pollinators, play in agrifood systems, and the health of ecosystems, as well as serving as important indicators of environmental health; believes that protecting bees is crucial for enhancing biodiversity and ecosystem services; expresses concern that bee population numbers are declining significantly, with, it understands, 13 species of bees native to the UK already having been lost, and a further 35 species at significant risk, and calls on the Scottish Government to expand conservation efforts, including placing a greater emphasis on habitat restoration to help safeguard their future.
