The motion

That the Parliament condemns the reported plans of the University of Aberdeen in relation to a potential reduction in the number of courses, freeze on staff recruitment, and re-introduction of voluntary redundancy for hardworking academic and support staff; notes the reported concerns by Aberdeen University Students’ Association (AUSA) that senior management’s decision is detrimentally impacting student learning and experience; stands in solidarity with Aberdeen University UCU, UNISON and Unite staff in defending jobs, livelihoods and academic excellence at the University of Aberdeen; notes reports of staff concern at a lack of appropriate consultation on the proposals for voluntary severance and job losses; agrees with the reported comments from AUSA that the university funding system is broken, and calls on the Scottish Government to work proactively with the UK Government to address what it considers are higher education funding crises and prevent further instability and uncertainty.
