Fishing Awards Service Provider of the Year

The motion

That the Parliament congratulates Karl Thomsen and all at his Buckie-based rigging business on being named Service Provider of the Year at the prestigious Fishing News Awards 2024; recognises Karl’s nearly five decades of dedicated service to the Scottish and Irish fishing fleets, and the deep roots of his family business in the maritime traditions of Banffshire and Buchan Coast; understands that Karl’s journey, inspired by his Danish fisherman father, has seen his business evolve into a vital part of the industry, supplying high-quality wire rope and rigging services to fishing vessels across the islands; celebrates the company’s 40th anniversary and the enduring commitment of "Team Thomsen" to high standards, reliability and supporting the fishing community, and believes that this recognition is a testament to the invaluable role of service providers in sustaining the strength and resilience of the proud fishing industry.
