The motion

That the Parliament recognises Aberdeen’s growing reputation as a leading tourism destination; notes that Port of Aberdeen has seen a recent uptick in cruise calls, bringing the total scheduled for 2025 to 70, which is an increase of over 40% compared to 2024, and represents over 48,000 cruise guests visiting Aberdeen and the north east of Scotland this year; understands that Aberdeen recently became the first Scottish city to host Cruise Britain’s prestigious annual summer event, which was held on 4-5 June 2025, and which showcased what Aberdeen offers as a cruise destination, including Nuart street art festival, the award-winning Maritime Museum, and a visit to the nearby Crathes Castle; believes that this success is a testament to the investment Port of Aberdeen has made in unlocking new opportunities for the cruise sector, and looks forward to even more success in 2026 and beyond.
