Opening of Alzheimer Scotland’s Outdoor Brain Health and Dementia Resource Centre in the Grounds of Lauriston Castle

The motion

That the Parliament welcomes the news of the official opening of Alzheimer Scotland’s second dedicated Outdoor Brain Health and Dementia Resource Centre at Lauriston Castle in Edinburgh; understands that the official opening event took place on 5 June 2025 and coincided with Dementia Awareness Week; acknowledges the innovative partnership between Alzheimer Scotland and the Forget-Me-Not Trust, as well as the generosity of supporters, to whom, it understands, Alzheimer Scotland sends its sincere thanks; recognises that the new centre will become a hub for a wide range of nature-inspired, therapeutic and creative activities that promote independence, social interaction and provide inspiration for people living with dementia, their families and carers to try something new and capture the restorative power of nature; notes that the centre also provides a vital opportunity for anyone to learn more about the steps they can take to reduce the risk of developing the disease; commends everyone involved, and wishes Alzheimer Scotland, its volunteers and service users, all the best for the centre’s continued success.
