Calling for the BBC to Get its Act Together and Report Accurately on Devolved Issues

The motion

That the Parliament believes that the BBC regularly fails to distinguish the difference between the situation in England, with regards to its privately owned water companies, and that in Scotland, where, since 2002, Scottish Water is in public ownership; considers that the distinction between the publicly owned ScotRail, and the various private rail companies in England, is ignored; believes that reference is often made to various ministers, who are responsible for domestic issues in England, as if they represent Scotland; notes the view that, as a public service broadcaster, the BBC has a duty, and an obligation, to ensure that it is accurate in its reporting; further notes the reported concerns, including from some in the Midlothian South, Tweeddale and Lauderdale constituency, that such instances continue, despite the fact that devolution is more than a quarter of a century old, and calls on the BBC to get its act together and report accurately on devolved issues.
