Clan McKie Raises Over £58,000 for Brain Tumour Research
The motion
That the Parliament commends Don, Rachel, and the whole of Clan McKie on their outstanding fundraising since 2006, which now totals over £58,000 for brain tumour research; notes with sadness that they began fundraising for brain tumour research after the death of their 32-year-old son, Graham McKie, seven months after being diagnosed with a grade 4 inoperable and incurable glioblastoma brain tumour on 11 August 2006; understands that, since this time, they have worked with The Brain Tumour Charity, and more recently with Brain Tumour Research, who is now collaborating with the Beatson Centre through the newly established Centre of Excellence in Scotland, which Don and Rachel had the privilege of attending the launch for at the end of January 2025; welcomes that this Centre focuses on accelerating research into glioblastoma, with the aim of making significant strides in understanding and treating this aggressive form of brain tumour; sincerely thanks and applauds all of Clan McKie for their selfless fundraising over many years for this important cause, and believes that they have truly done Graham proud.
