The motion

That the Parliament recognises the start of the redevelopment of the Pithead Baths at Prestongrange, between Prestonpans and Musselburgh, in June 2025; appreciates the £1.2 million in funding that was awarded to the project through the Scottish Government’s Regeneration Capital Grant Fund; remembers that the Prestongrange Pithead Bath House was built in September 1952 as the 100th facility created by the National Coal Board in Scotland; celebrates what it regards as the significant improvements that the Bath House made in industrial welfare and societal facilities, such as providing a canteen and medical facilities for the miners; acknowledges what it sees as the great importance of the Pithead Baths to the rich industrial heritage of Prestongrange, the Preston Seton Gosford area, and East Lothian more broadly; notes that the restoration will see the building return to use after closing in 1962 along with the Prestongrange colliery, and recognises the redevelopment of the Pithead Baths as part of a wider investment project in Prestongrange Heritage Park.
