Congratulating Spike McKeowen on Completing the One Million Steps Challenge
The motion
That the Parliament congratulates Spike McKeowen on what it sees as his outstanding achievement of completing over 1.1 million steps during the month of May 2025 as part of the “One Million Steps Challenge” in support of St Augustine’s Roman Catholic Church in Coatbridge; recognises that this incredible personal effort was undertaken to raise funds for the parish’s youth pilgrimage to Lourdes, ensuring that every child participating could travel completely free of charge, with no cost to their families; commends Spike for his dedication, generosity and community spirit; believes that his commitment inspired not only donations but also wider community engagement through a celebratory prize draw, and acknowledges what it sees as this remarkable contribution as an example of selfless service and faith in action, embodying the very best of community values in North Lanarkshire and beyond.
