Stranraer's Hosting of the SkiffieWorlds 2025

That the Parliament congratulates Stranraer Water Sports Association on its forthcoming hosting of the SkiffieWorlds 2025, bringing together the world’s best crews of St Ayles skiff coastal rowers; notes that this is the second time the World Championships have been held in Stranraer, the previous occasion being in 2019; welcomes the 2,000 rowers from across the world who are travelling to Stranraer and the Rhins to compete and take part in the wider festival of water sports on Loch Ryan; acknowledges what it sees as the growing importance of Stranraer as a centre of water sports excellence, including the development of the new Water Sports Hub due to be completed in 2026, and funded in part through sportscotland, the Holywood Trust, Dumfries and Galloway Council and South of Scotland Enterprise, and wishes all taking part in the SkiffieWorlds an enjoyable time in Scotland’s sunny south west.
