Congratulating Care and Repair Edinburgh
The motion
That the Parliament congratulates Care and Repair Edinburgh (CRE) on carrying out around 6,500 jobs in 2024-25 for older and disabled Edinburgh residents; celebrates CRE’s hard work to provide key safes, handrails, grab rails, small repairs and electrical safety work to keep people in their own homes, safely for as long as possible; notes that the team can carry out household tasks that become more difficult with age such as changing light bulbs or building flatpack furniture, fitting grab rails, ramps and both internal and external handrails; believes that CRE has, under continuing financial restraints, helped thousands of older and disabled people to remain independent and safe, notes that CRE started operating as an Age Concern project in the 1980s and since then has been helping older and disabled residents to live independently in their own homes.
