Lanarkshire Volunteers Scale Ben Nevis in Support of Project Nakuru
The motion
That the Parliament commends the inspiring group of young and older volunteers from Lanarkshire who recently climbed Ben Nevis, Scotland’s highest peak, in support of Project Nakuru, a charity that works to improve the lives of some of the world’s poorest people in Kenya; believes that the charity provides vital support, including building schools, distributing food parcels and supplying essential equipment, to communities in need in the Nakuru region; applauds the efforts of event organiser Fiona McCall, from Wishaw, who, despite being unable to take part in the climb for health reasons, accompanied the group to the Highlands to support their endeavour; notes that the event has already raised £600, a sum that will make a significant contribution to the charity’s work during its upcoming visit to Kenya in September, and celebrates what it sees as the compassion, community spirit and international solidarity demonstrated by everyone involved in this remarkable fundraising initiative.
