Motion · S6M-18302 · 11 Jul 2025
Trinity Test
The motion
That the Parliament notes that 16 July 2025 marks the 80th anniversary of the first nuclear explosion, code-named the Trinity test; is aware that the plutonium implosion device was detonated in New Mexico, USA, and that it led Robert Oppenheimer to quote the Hindu holy text and say, "Now I am become Death, the destroyer of worlds", and understands that three weeks later the atomic bombs were dropped on both Hiroshima and Nagasaki, resulting in the deaths of between 150,000 and 246,000 people.
