Commending the SFA's CashBack for Communities Programme

The motion

That the Parliament commends the publication of the 2025 annual report of the SFA’s CashBack for Communities programme, marking what it sees as the successful second year of Phase 6 of the initiative, known as Achieving Goals; recognises the programme’s reported continued impact on the lives of over 4,700 young people across Scotland, particularly those from disadvantaged backgrounds; celebrates the use of football as a powerful tool to promote personal development, social inclusion and community wellbeing; welcomes the positive outcomes achieved through key initiatives such as the Football Champions programme, the Volunteer Inspire Programme (VIP), Go-Fitba, and Kick Aboot, which have provided safe spaces, leadership opportunities and vital life skills for young participants; notes that 96% of participants in Kick Aboot and Play Fitba reported reduced involvement in antisocial or criminal behaviour, 100% of VIP participants progressed into positive destinations, such as further education, employment or volunteering, and that over 8,000 healthy meals were distributed through Go-Fitba, directly tackling holiday hunger and supporting physical wellbeing; acknowledges the significant improvements in confidence, resilience and community engagement reported across all strands of the programme, and praises the dedication and commitment of the programme’s staff, coaches, delivery partners, and the young people themselves, whose energy and courage have made this success possible, while supporting the SFA’s vision of using sport to build stronger communities and brighter futures for Scotland’s youth.
