St Enoch Centre Champions Team Scotland at the Homeless World Cup

The motion

That the Parliament congratulates the St Enoch Centre in Glasgow on its contribution of £2,000 to support Team Scotland in the 20th edition of the Homeless World Cup, which will take place in Oslo; notes that the donation was raised through customer contributions, internal fundraising and a direct donation from the Centre; understands that this will help to cover the costs of flights, accommodation and kits for the team, which is made up of players supported by Street Soccer Scotland; further understands that Street Soccer Scotland is a non-profit organisation offering free weekly football sessions and football-themed education to vulnerable adults and young people; acknowledges what it sees as the powerful role that sport can play in tackling social isolation and improving the wellbeing, confidence and self-esteem of people affected by homelessness, and commends both the St Enoch Centre and Street Soccer Scotland for their continued efforts to create positive, life-changing opportunities for some of Scotland’s most marginalised individuals.
