Congratulations to Milngavie and Bearsden Residents on Completing USA Western States 100-mile Endurance Run

The motion

That the Parliament congratulates Ian Garnett of Milngavie and Debbie Martin Consani of Bearsden on their outstanding achievements in completing the 2025 Western States 100-mile endurance run in California, USA; notes that Ian finished 119th overall in 25 hours and 52 minutes, among 285 runners, and achieved a remarkable result representing Scotland abroad; acknowledges that Debbie finished 155th overall in 27 hours and 16 minutes, placing 35th female and second in her age category, reinforcing her status as one of the UK’s most accomplished ultra distance athletes; recognises their dedication and spirit in taking on one of the world’s most famous ultra running challenges, and wishes them continued success in their endurance careers.
