Virgin Money Branch Commitment to Aberdeen

That the Parliament welcomes the reported commitment from Virgin Money to keep its two Aberdeen branches, at Queen’s Cross and St Nicholas, open; understands that this commitment, which is part of the Nationwide Group’s Branch Promise initiative, means that local customers can be sure of these branches remaining open until at least the start of 2028; notes that Virgin Money has a range of community initiatives designed to support the financial and digital wellbeing of people in their local areas, including a collaboration with the Good Things Foundation to turn both branches into National Databanks for anyone experiencing digital poverty, the financial education programme, Make £5 Grow, to equip schoolchildren with essential financial skills, funding and support from the Virgin Money Foundation to improve digital inclusion, and partnerships with Mind and SAMH to deliver bespoke training to branch colleagues to support customers with their mental health and any financial worries; believes that other banks should follow this example and commit to stop local branch closures, and wishes all the staff at Virgin Money’s Aberdeen branches all the very best with their endeavours.
