Funding Boost Fuels Bridgeton Community Hub’s Vital Services

The motion

That the Parliament congratulates Bridgeton Community Learning Campus (BCLC) on securing funding from the Scottish Building Society Foundation to support its vital services in Glasgow’s East End, helping to ensure that the centre can continue to provide much-needed opportunities for local residents; notes that this funding will be used to improve energy efficiency at the centre, including upgrading its heating system, enabling BCLC to provide a sustainable and welcoming environment throughout the year; recognises the centre’s important role as a cornerstone of the Bridgeton community since opening in 2006, providing a wide range of inclusive services that support education, wellbeing, social connection and personal development for people of all ages and abilities; acknowledges the variety of activities offered at BCLC, including fitness classes, arts and crafts, information and communication technology and language courses, as well as community events such as an annual gala, monthly meals, tea dances and a community garden; notes the centre’s particular importance in serving those most in need, including older adults facing isolation, young families seeking support and residents seeking opportunities to build confidence, learn new skills and participate in their local community, and recognises that the funding from the Scottish Building Society Foundation will help BCLC sustain and expand its inclusive programmes, further strengthening community resilience, social cohesion and opportunity in Bridgeton.
