Celebrating the Compassion, Humility and Tenacity of Seamus Harkin
The motion
That the Parliament celebrates the life of Seamus Harkin, a much-loved family man, friend and good neighbour to many in Kirkintilloch and beyond; applauds his service to the community spanning more than 20 years at the Addiction Recovery Centre; commends his commitment, dedication and love of people through this relational, grassroots work; highlights the lasting impact of the 24-hour helpline, support groups and individualised help that were so generously established and run by Seamus; hopes that the activities of the centre will continue to flourish as a fitting tribute to Seamus' humble, selfless community spirit; highlights the recent accolade of being recognised as the annual Provost's Community Champion, as presented by Provost Gillian Renwick and Depute Provost Colette McDiarmid; acknowledges that Seamus was a powerful role-model who will be missed by many people of all ages and backgrounds in the Strathkelvin and Bearsden constituency, and sends warm wishes of comfort to all those whose life Seamus touched.
