Celebrating Had-Fab’s Role in Supporting Critical Transmission Network Upgrades
The motion
That the Parliament celebrates the announcement that Had-Fab, based in Tranent, East Lothian will fabricate nearly 500 steel towers for the proposed Spittal – Loch Buidhe – Beauly 400kV overhead line electricity transmission project that is being delivered by SSEN Transmission’s supply chain partners, Murphy and Wood Transmission and Distribution Ltd; understands that the overall value of the work is more than £100 million, which is the largest award in Had-Fab's history, accelerating the company’s investment and employment growth plans; recognises Had-Fab’s long-standing relationship with SSEN Transmission, having supported several other overhead line and substation projects, including the Argyll and Kintore 275kV Reinforcement Project that is in construction; appreciates Had-Fab’s plans to galvanise the towers using supply chain companies in the UK, further contributing, it believes, to employment and skills development; considers that Had-Fab’s contribution to upgrading electricity transmission infrastructure plays a central role in unlocking major economic opportunities through investment while also providing clean power, and understands that SSEN Transmission expects to invest at least £22 billion by March 2031 as part of a wider renewal of the electricity transmission system across Great Britain to deliver UK and Scottish clean power and energy security targets.
