GoFibre Named Best Broadband Provider in Scotland
The motion
That the Parliament congratulates independent broadband provider, GoFibre, on being named Best Broadband Provider in Scotland at the 2025 Broadband Genie Awards; recognises that judges highlighted its commitment to flexibility, affordability, the provision of a social tariff for customers in receipt of qualifying state benefits, and industry-leading customer service; understands that GoFibre, founded in the Borders in 2017, has grown rapidly and now serves 120,000 homes and businesses across Angus, Aberdeenshire, Fife, the Scottish Borders and East Lothian with access to its ultra-fast and reliable broadband network; notes that the company has recently secured £125 million of investment from the Scottish National Investment Bank (SNIB) to support the roll-out of full-fibre broadband across South and North East Scotland, and commends GoFibre for its continued dedication to the communities that it serves through its GoFurther Fund, which supports a wide range of charitable and community projects, including education and employability initiatives, assistance for people living with dementia, programmes tackling loneliness and isolation, and after-school activities that empower young people from diverse backgrounds.
