North Glasgow Scores with Return of Community Rugby
The motion
That the Parliament welcomes the return of community rugby to north Glasgow through the initiative led by ng homes, the Partick Thistle Charitable Trust and HomelessRugby; notes what it believes has been the successful re-introduction of touch rugby to the area following the visit from former HomelessRugby Scotland players Stuart Ferguson and Sheena Bell, alongside the Glasgow Warriors community engagement manager; recognises the importance of community-based sport in providing opportunities for disadvantaged groups to engage in physical activity, develop confidence and skills, and benefit from pathways to personal development and employment; acknowledges the dedication of coaches, volunteers and participants who have helped re-establish rugby in the community, following the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, and considers that continued sessions and fixtures will help to strengthen community spirit, promote inclusion and inspire further participation in rugby across Scotland.
