Recognition of Dyslexia Awareness Week Scotland 2025
The motion
That the Parliament notes that Dyslexia Awareness Week Scotland 2025 will take place from 29 September to 5 October with the theme “Busting Myths”, and is coordinated by Dyslexia Scotland; recognises that this annual campaign seeks to raise awareness of dyslexia, challenge common misconceptions and promote a more inclusive and supportive society for the estimated one in 10 people in Scotland who are dyslexic; welcomes the work of Dyslexia Scotland and its partners in organising events, workshops and public engagement activities across the country; notes that the campaign provides vital resources for schools, workplaces and communities to better understand the strengths and challenges associated with dyslexia; supports the aim of building a dyslexia-friendly Scotland where individuals of all ages are recognised for their potential and provided with the right support; notes the importance of tackling stigma and misinformation around neurodiversity, and encourages MSPs, local authorities, employers and educational institutions to engage proactively with the campaign, promote accurate understanding of dyslexia, and give meaningful consideration to the lived experiences of dyslexic individuals.
