Rugby and STEM - a Partnership Making a Lasting Impact
The motion
That the Parliament congratulates SP Energy Networks and Glasgow Rugby on the extension of their partnership for a further three years; recognises the success of this eight-year collaboration in making rugby and engineering more accessible to young people; notes that initiatives such as the SP Energy Networks Schools Championship have enabled more than 6,500 pupils across 28 Glasgow schools to participate in rugby, including many who had never engaged with the sport before; commends the introduction of quiet sessions for fans with sensory and additional needs, allowing for greater inclusion; recognises the partnership’s efforts to inspire pupils to consider careers in science, technology, engineering, and maths (STEM), with 90% of participants reporting a new interest in STEM careers; acknowledges the importance of raising awareness of services that support vulnerable people, and looks forward to the continued positive impact of this partnership on communities in Glasgow and beyond.
