Celebrating World Menopause Day by Commending the College Sector’s Policy
The motion
That the Parliament, in marking World Menopause Day 2025, commends college employers for working in partnership with trade unions to develop and implement a Scotland-wide menopause policy; believes that, since its launch three years ago, the policy has provided vital support to staff experiencing severe menopause and perimenopause symptoms; acknowledges the framework it has established for practical measures, such as hybrid working, flexible hours and cooler office environments; welcomes the policy’s role in destigmatising menopause and boosting communication through initiatives including menopause champions, support sessions and manager training, and notes what it sees as its positive impact in helping staff remain in their roles, and enabling colleges to continue delivering the world-class education that students deserve.
