Commending CRY Cardiac Screening Event at Cairndale Hotel in Dumfries
The motion
That the Parliament commends Cardiac Risk in the Young (CRY) for hosting a vital cardiac screening event at the Cairndale Hotel in Dumfries on 11-12 September 2025; notes that a total of 188 young people were screened over the weekend event, contributing to an overall 761 screenings since May 2024, all delivered through the David Hill Memorial Fund; further notes that 54 individuals have been referred for a follow-up with either a GP or cardiology services, highlighting the importance of early detection; recognises CRY’s ongoing commitment to preventing sudden cardiac deaths in young people through awareness and accessible screening; acknowledges the significance of bringing such lifesaving opportunities to communities across Scotland; thanks the volunteers, medical professionals and organisers for their dedication and impact; encourages continued support for CRY’s mission to promote heart health and protect young lives, and wishes everyone involved every success in the upcoming Red Bow Ball fundraising event at the Cairndale Hotel in December.
