Callum Clydesdale, Falkirk East’s Young Hero 2025

The motion

That the Parliament congratulates Callum Clydesdale, who is a Braes High School pupil, on his recent award in BBC Scotland’s Make a Difference Awards 2025; notes that, in September 2024, Callum grew concerned for one of his regular customers while on his paper round, leading him to call for emergency services to take the relevant steps to ensure the elderly neighbour’s wellbeing; recognises that as a result of Callum’s actions, the emergency services arrived and transported the person to hospital and while, they sadly later passed away, this allowed them to do so surrounded by their loved ones; notes that Callum was recognised for his efforts in the BBC Scotland’s Make a Difference Awards where he received a Highly Commended trophy in the Young Hero Award category; commends Callum for the kindness and community spirit he has shown, his active approach in raising concerns for a vulnerable member of his community, which it believes is evidence of a maturity well beyond his years, while setting such a positive example for others; congratulates Callum on his Young Hero Award, and wishes him well with his studies.
