Down’s Syndrome Awareness Month
The motion
That the Parliament notes that October 2025 is Down’s Syndrome Awareness Month;understands that current estimates suggest that fewer than 5% of people withDown’s syndrome are in meaningful paid work, despite reported evidencesuggesting that people with the condition want to be meaningfully employed;welcomes the launch of the Down’s Syndrome Scotland’s Inclusive EmploymentProgramme, which works with employer partners to develop a model that benefitsand supports workers, community and employers; welcomes the Four Programmes forChange identified by young adults in Scotland with Down’s syndrome, whichare focused around health, employment, transition planning and communityliving, and pays tribute to the ongoing work of Down’s Syndrome Scotland andthe Inclusive Employment Programme.
