C Fayre Largs Crowned Best Fishmonger in Scotland
The motion
That the Parliament congratulates C Fayre, the long-established fishmonger located on Aitken Street in Largs, on being named Best in Scotland at the National Federation of Fishmongers Fishmonger of the Year Awards 2025; celebrates the dedication of owner, John Watson, Scotland’s first certified Master Fishmonger, who has worked in the trade for 50 years and took over the business from his father in 1994, continuing a proud family tradition that spans generations; commends what it sees as C Fayre’s exemplary working practices, including hand-selecting fresh Scottish seafood daily from local markets, hand-filleting fish on site, and preparing orders to meet customers’ exacting standards; notes the business’s commitment to sustainability, quality and training the next generation, including John’s nephew, Connor; acknowledges the support of loyal customers and the contribution of family members past and present, and recognises C Fayre as an example of Scottish fishmongery, rooted in heritage, craftsmanship and community service.
