The motion

That the Parliament congratulates Linda Mitchell on their retirement from the Lammermuir Larder on 13 October 2025, following five years of dedicated service to the people of Haddington, Gifford and beyond; acknowledges that the Lammermuir Larder was co-founded by Linda and Pat Lemmon in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, with the initial aim of supporting local residents for two years, and that it has since grown into a vital community resource; recognises the Larder's significant impact on tackling food insecurity and supporting individuals and families during challenging times; commends the tireless efforts of its volunteers, staff, board members and supporters, whose generosity and commitment have sustained the Larder’s work; thanks Linda for their leadership as a board member and their role in shaping the organisation into a beacon of compassion and resilience; notes that the Larder has grown organically in response to the needs of the community, introducing an advocacy service, a community shop, an intervention to bridge the gap between emergency food and being able to afford to pay for a full weekly shopping bill, and, more recently, Let’s Cook, a project to teach clients to cook, reduce food waste and budget effectively, and wishes Linda well in their retirement, with gratitude for their unwavering dedication to community empowerment and social justice.
