Keep Duns in Bloom, 10 Years of Blossoming Success
The motion
That the Parliament congratulates Keep Duns in Bloom, also known as Keeping Duns Blooming Marvellous, on celebrating its 10th anniversary in 2025, having been founded in 2015 by a small group of local volunteers committed to enhancing the appearance and biodiversity of Duns; recognises that, over the last decade, the group has expanded to maintain 13 large flower beds, 45 planters, a wildflower bed and a network of community planting areas, transforming previously neglected public spaces into vibrant sustainable gardens that bring colour and civic pride to the town; understands that the volunteers have worked tirelessly in all seasons, raising funds through plant sales, creating educational initiatives, such as the Duns Flowerbed Trail, and collaborating closely with the development trust, A Heart for Duns, local businesses and the Scottish Borders Council to deliver lasting environmental improvements; acknowledges the invaluable contribution that Keep Duns in Bloom has made to the local community, fostering environmental stewardship, supporting biodiversity, strengthening community spirit and serving as a shining example of what can be achieved through volunteer dedication and civic pride, and warmly congratulates all involved on reaching this remarkable 10-year milestone.
