The motion

That the Parliament congratulates Impact Arts, which is based in Brunswick Street in Glasgow, on being named Arts Champion in the North East heat of the 2025 Glasgow Community Champion Awards; notes the charity’s long-standing presence since its founding in 1994, during which time it has engaged over 300,000 people across Scotland in creative programmes to respond to social inequalities and improve life-chances; understands that, in 2024-25, Impact Arts delivered 83 projects, hosted 77 events and engaged with 3,460 individuals, with 98% of participants rating their project “good” or “excellent”; recognises that, in spring 2023, it opened The Boardwalk in Glasgow’s Merchant City, which is a purpose-built venue with a 180-capacity theatre and seven studios that has welcomed over 22,000 visitors in its first year and serves as a hub for inclusive, accessible creative work; commends the charity’s commitment to transformational work through the arts, helping older groups of people address social isolation, children’s attainment via art-therapy and young adults’ employability through creative engagement, and looks forward to Impact Arts continuing what it sees as its excellent work and the positive impact that it has on Glasgow’s cultural and community landscape.
