FARE Scotland's Community Allotment in Easterhouse, Health & Wellbeing Champion

The motion

That the Parliament congratulates FARE Scotland’s Community Allotment, in Easterhouse, Glasgow on being named Health & Wellbeing Champion in the North East region of the 2025 Glasgow Community Champion Awards; acknowledges that Family Action in Rogerfield & Easterhouse (FARE) Scotland was founded in 1989 and has grown to deliver high-quality community services across the east end of Glasgow; notes the achievement of the Allotment project, which works with local nurseries, primary and secondary schools, family clubs and adult learning groups to deliver weekly gardening and outdoor-learning sessions, promoting wellbeing, horticultural skills, sustainable food growing and connection with nature; recognises that the Allotment has achieved recognition via awards, including from the Royal Horticultural Society and Keep Scotland Beautiful, for its inclusive and biodiverse community space; understands the resilience of the community following a fire incident in November 2024, which damaged infrastructure, and acknowledges the ongoing fundraising efforts to rebuild its Château hut and polytunnel, and believes that this demonstrates strong community solidarity and resolve.
