Rise in UK Unemployment

The motion

That the Parliament notes with concern reports that the unemployment rate in the UK is at its highest point since late 2020, at the peak of the COVID-19 pandemic; understands that the Office for National Statistics has reported that the rate rose to 5% in the three months to September 2025; believes that in order to remedy this, the UK Government must listen to industry leaders, and calls on the Chancellor of the Exchequer to rethink the disastrous rise in employer's National Insurance contributions in the upcoming budget, and replace it with taxation plans that promote economic growth and benefit workers and their families.
