Queensferry Charity Wins Volunteer Award at Scottish Health Awards
The motion
That the Parliament congratulates the volunteer-run urgent courier service, Blood Bikes Scotland, on winning the Volunteer Award at the Scottish Health Awards 2025; notes that the service operates free of charge, delivering blood, blood products, specimens, medications, urgent documentation and small medical equipment reliably 365 days a year; further notes that it is wholly funded by voluntary donations from private individuals and corporate supporters, with no government or NHS funding; acknowledges the dedication of the 250 volunteers, including riders, drivers, call handlers and fundraisers, who give their time without salary or remuneration; believes that the service has saved NHS Scotland over £1 million in the last three years, and commends all involved for their outstanding contribution to healthcare in Scotland.
